Privacy Officer

Client: Gemeente Amsterdam
Location: Hybrid (onsite in Amsterdam & remote, in consultation)

Role in Context

Gemeente Amsterdam is seeking a Privacy Officer to ensure the adequate protection of the privacy of Amsterdammers and compliance with all applicable privacy regulations.

You will be part of a team of dedicated privacy professionals, each covering specific directorates. Your scope focuses on the social domain, including Sport en Bos and Maatschappelijke Voorzieningen.

Tasks include:

  • Conducting privacy quick scans and DPIAs

  • Drafting agreements, protocols, and privacy documentation

  • Advising on privacy challenges and raising awareness across the organization

  • Maintaining the AVG processing register

  • Identifying, prioritizing, and implementing control measures

This is a hands-on advisory role requiring a balance of legal expertise, stakeholder communication, and practical implementation in a complex municipal environment.


Knock-Out Criteria (must be visible in CV)

  • Recognized HBO diploma (minimum)

  • WO working and thinking level

  • 3–6 years’ demonstrable experience as Privacy Officer in privacy/data protection, preferably in a large and complex organization

  • 3–6 years’ demonstrable knowledge of GDPR/AVG and UAVG

  • Experience with DPIAs and privacy risk management


Award Criteria (preferences)

  • Demonstrable experience in the social domain (e.g., Sport en Bos, Maatschappelijke Voorzieningen)

  • Demonstrable experience within a governmental or large-scale organization

  • Falls under Directie Digitale Strategie en Informatie (DSI), responsible for digital strategy, security, privacy, and information management

  • Transparency and responsible handling of data aligned with Wet Open Overheid (Woo)

  • VOG (Certificate of Good Conduct) may be required post-award
