Privacy Officer & Advocate
About the assignment
You are the voice of privacy within the organisation. You translate complex regulations into actionable policies that protect both customers and the business. Your role bridges legal requirements, technical implementation, and business operations.
You partner with IT, security, legal, and business units to embed privacy by design into every process. From data subject requests to third-party risk assessments, you ensure compliance becomes competitive advantage, not just checkbox compliance.
This is a strategic role where your advocacy directly influences how the organisation handles personal data and builds customer trust.
Your responsibilities
- Lead GDPR, CCPA, and regional data protection compliance efforts across all departments
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) for new projects and process changes
- Manage subject access requests, deletion requests, and data breach incident response
- Develop and maintain privacy policies, notices, and consent management frameworks
- Advise business and technical teams on privacy-by-design principles during system design
- Conduct privacy audits and risk assessments of data processing activities
- Represent the organisation in regulatory communications and inspections
- Build privacy awareness training and foster data protection culture across teams

Must-haves
- 5+ years privacy, compliance, or data protection experience
- Deep knowledge of GDPR and regional privacy laws (CCPA, LGPD, or equivalent)
- Experience managing data subject rights and breach response protocols
- Strong ability to translate regulation into practical business processes
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with privacy management platforms (OneTrust, Collibra, or similar)
- Background in conducting DPIAs and privacy impact assessments
- CIPP/E, CIPM, or similar privacy certification
- Exposure to AI governance or emerging privacy regulations
