Senior Privacy Project Lead
About the assignment
A leading public sector organisation is undertaking a comprehensive GDPR compliance transformation. You own the strategic oversight across 13 organisational units to ensure all data processing activities are properly recorded, documented, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Your challenge: establish a unified privacy governance framework, close compliance gaps, and embed privacy controls across a complex, distributed structure. You report directly to senior leadership and have full autonomy to drive change.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end GDPR compliance transformation across 13 departments and units
- Design and implement a centralised data processing register and documentation framework
- Establish privacy governance policies, standards, and mandatory controls for the entire organisation
- Conduct privacy impact assessments (DPIA) on existing and new processing activities
- Manage stakeholder engagement and secure buy-in from department heads and executive leadership
- Monitor compliance metrics and report progress to the board and regulatory authorities
- Oversee vendor and third-party privacy risk assessments and data processing agreements

Must-haves
- 8+ years in privacy, data protection, or compliance roles
- Proven experience leading large-scale GDPR or privacy transformation projects
- Deep expertise in GDPR, privacy legislation, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and drive organisational change
- Strong documentation and communication skills in English
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in public sector or government organisations
- Hands-on experience with privacy governance platforms (OneTrust, Collibra)
- Familiarity with NIS2, AI Act, or emerging regulatory frameworks
