BIO Compliance Officer
About the assignment
The BIO regulation requires Dutch organisations to detect, report, and manage security incidents affecting critical infrastructure and essential services. You'll be the driving force behind your organisation's compliance programme, balancing legal obligations with operational security needs.
You'll interpret BIO requirements, design incident detection and reporting processes, and ensure the organisation meets strict timelines. This role bridges security operations, legal compliance, and executive governance.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and maintain BIO compliance policies, procedures, and documentation
- Design incident detection thresholds and reporting workflows aligned with BIO deadlines
- Coordinate with SOC and security teams to ensure incidents are properly classified and escalated
- Prepare mandatory incident reports for the relevant Dutch authority within required timelines
- Monitor regulatory updates and adjust processes as BIO requirements evolve
- Audit incident response logs and documentation for compliance gaps
- Report compliance status and incidents to senior management and the board

Must-haves
- Proven experience with Dutch regulatory compliance (BIO, NIS2, or similar)
- Strong understanding of incident response and security operations
- Knowledge of incident classification frameworks and reporting requirements
- Experience designing compliance processes and documentation
- Excellent written communication for regulatory reporting
Nice-to-haves
- Background in critical infrastructure or essential services sector
- Experience with GRC platforms (ServiceNow, Archer, OneTrust)
- Familiarity with Dutch cyber regulations and authority interactions
