Data Protection Officer (DPO)
About the assignment
As DPO, you are the independent voice for data protection within the organisation. You report directly to senior management and the board on privacy risks, regulatory obligations, and compliance status.
You assess data processing activities, conduct privacy impact assessments, and advise teams on lawful handling of personal data. You manage relationships with supervisory authorities and respond to data subject requests and breach notifications.
Your role bridges legal, technical, and operational worlds—ensuring privacy is embedded into business decisions from day one, not bolted on at the end.
Your responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure compliance with GDPR, AI Act, ePrivacy, and sector-specific regulations
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) for new systems and processing activities
- Investigate data breaches, manage breach notifications, and report to supervisory authorities
- Advise internal teams (legal, HR, IT, marketing) on lawful data processing and privacy risks
- Manage data subject requests (access, deletion, portability) and oversee timely responses
- Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and staff training programmes
- Coordinate with external stakeholders including regulators, DPAs, and third-party processors
