About the assignment

A leading public sector organisation is seeking a Privacy Officer to embed data protection excellence across its physical domain, urban development, and city management services.

You'll work at the intersection of policy and execution, where privacy decisions directly impact residents. This role demands more than legal compliance—you translate regulations into practice while understanding the organisation's broader civic mission.

You'll be the go-to advisor for privacy-sensitive projects, new initiatives, and inter-departmental collaborations, working closely with information management, legal, and finance teams.

Your responsibilities

  • Advise stakeholders on privacy issues and data processing activities across multiple departments
  • Lead and quality-assure Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new initiatives and partnerships
  • Translate GDPR and Dutch data protection legislation into practical, actionable guidance
  • Collaborate with information management, legal affairs, and finance teams to embed privacy into workflows
  • Provide independent privacy opinions on organisational decisions and policy implementations
  • Identify when specialist support from other privacy officers or external experts is needed
  • Monitor evolving data protection requirements and advise on compliance updates
