Risk and Compliance Officer
About the assignment
The client operates in a regulated environment requiring robust risk management and compliance controls. You'll bridge governance and technical security teams, translating policy into practice.
Your focus: identify emerging risks, maintain compliance with evolving standards (ISO 27001, NIS2, sector-specific regulations), and build a compliance culture across the organisation.
You'll report to senior leadership and directly impact how the organisation manages regulatory exposure and operational risk.
Your responsibilities
- Design and maintain risk assessment frameworks aligned with NIST, ISO 27001, and sector regulations
- Monitor compliance status across information security, data protection, and operational risk domains
- Develop and execute compliance roadmaps in response to regulatory changes and audit findings
- Conduct risk assessments and impact analyses for new projects, systems, and third-party integrations
- Prepare compliance reports, audit documentation, and board-level risk summaries
- Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors to resolve compliance gaps and evidence control effectiveness
- Update risk registers and maintain compliance calendars for key obligations

Must-haves
- 5+ years in GRC, risk management, or compliance roles
- Deep knowledge of ISO 27001, regulatory frameworks, and audit processes
- Experience with GRC platforms (ServiceNow, Archer, or equivalent)
- Strong ability to communicate risk to both technical and executive stakeholders
- Proven track record managing compliance projects and audit remediation
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with NIS2, DORA, or sector-specific compliance (energy, financial services, healthcare)
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK or security control mapping
- Background in IT governance or enterprise architecture
