Security Lead
About the assignment
You join as the security leader responsible for building and maturing the security function. You own incident response procedures, oversee security monitoring, and report security posture to leadership.
You balance reactive incident handling with proactive risk reduction. You manage vendor relationships, coordinate compliance efforts, and ensure security aligns with business objectives. This role demands both technical depth and executive presence.
Your responsibilities
- Lead security incident response and manage post-incident reviews
- Oversee security monitoring, threat detection, and SOC operations
- Build and mentor a security team, defining roles and responsibilities
- Develop and communicate security strategy aligned with business goals
- Manage security vendor relationships and technology evaluations
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulatory requirements
- Report security metrics and risk status to executive leadership
- Drive security awareness and embed security culture across the organisation

Must-haves
- 8+ years in cybersecurity with at least 3 years in a lead or management role
- Hands-on experience with incident response and SOC operations
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001)
- Experience building and managing security teams
- Proven ability to communicate security risks to non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-haves
- Background in cloud security (AWS, Azure)
- Experience with GRC platforms and compliance automation
- Board-level reporting and strategic planning experience
