Senior Privacy Officer
About the assignment
A growing local government organisation in Zuid-Holland (approximately 500 employees) seeks an experienced Senior Privacy Officer to strengthen its privacy and information security function. You will work independently to achieve critical compliance outcomes: preparing the organisation for WPG (Police Data Act) audit readiness, establishing a robust processing register, developing privacy policy frameworks, and managing data protection governance.
This is a contract role (3 months initial, with extension options) where you determine your own approach, priorities, and execution method. You report to the Privacy and Information Security team but operate with full professional autonomy. Your impact will directly support the organisation's compliance posture and embed privacy culture across all operations.
Your responsibilities
- Guide the organisation toward WPG-audit readiness by building complete audit evidence, advising on remediation measures, and monitoring implementation of audit findings
- Design and deliver a functional processing register that demonstrably meets legal requirements in design, implementation, and operation
- Develop and present privacy policies for formal adoption across the organisation
- Create a framework for assessing and managing processor agreements with external vendors
- Advise and support on privacy issues throughout the assignment, including data breach notifications and DPIA processes
- Conduct DPIA reviews and provide guidance on data sharing, processor agreements, and privacy governance structure
- Transfer knowledge to internal teams through workshops and documentation to embed privacy practices
