About the assignment
You step into a strategic leadership role where cybersecurity sits at the executive table. The organisation faces evolving threats across cloud, hybrid infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives. Your mandate: align security with business goals, reduce risk exposure, earn stakeholder trust, and ensure compliance with critical regulations.
You'll report to the C-suite, own the security roadmap, manage vendor relationships, and drive cultural change. This is not a technical deep-dive role—it's about governance, decision-making, and accountability.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and execute multi-year security strategy aligned with business objectives
- Lead security leadership team and establish accountabilities across silos
- Report security posture, incidents, and risk to the board and senior management
- Oversee compliance with regulations (ISO 27001, NIS2, DORA, sector-specific rules)
- Manage security budget, vendor relationships, and technology investments
- Build and embed a security-conscious culture across the organisation
- Lead incident response decisions and crisis communication with stakeholders
- Conduct regular risk assessments and advise on security-critical business decisions

Must-haves
- 10+ years cybersecurity experience, minimum 3 years in CISO or equivalent leadership role
- Proven track record building and scaling security programmes
- Board-level communication and stakeholder management skills
- Deep understanding of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR, sector regulations)
- Experience managing security budgets and technology investments
- Strategic thinker who balances security with business enablement
Nice-to-haves
- Background in risk management or enterprise architecture
- Experience leading through a major incident or security crisis
- Familiarity with emerging threats (AI/ML, supply chain, critical infrastructure)
