Chief Privacy Officer (CPO)
About the assignment
You are the organisation's privacy authority. You develop and enforce data protection strategies aligned with GDPR, AI Act, and emerging regulations. You report directly to leadership, advising on privacy risks embedded in new products, partnerships, and operations.
Your impact spans legal compliance, customer trust, and competitive advantage. You build a privacy-first culture, manage cross-functional stakeholders, and handle data subject rights requests at scale.
Your responsibilities
- Define and execute privacy strategy aligned with business goals and regulatory landscape
- Ensure GDPR, AI Act, and sector-specific compliance across all operations
- Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and systems
- Manage data subject access requests, breach notifications, and regulatory investigations
- Build and mentor a privacy team; establish governance frameworks and policies
- Advise the board and executive leadership on privacy risks and opportunities
- Manage relationships with regulators, DPAs, and external privacy counsel
- Oversee privacy by design integration into product development and vendor management

Must-haves
- 10+ years privacy, data protection, or legal compliance experience
- Deep expertise in GDPR and European privacy law
- Proven experience managing privacy teams and cross-functional stakeholders
- Board-level communication and strategic advisory skills
- Experience with privacy platforms (OneTrust, TrustArc, or Collibra)
Nice-to-haves
- CIPP/E or CIPM certification
- Experience with AI governance and algorithmic accountability
- Background in healthcare, finance, or regulated sectors
- Knowledge of NIS2, DORA, or other emerging EU regulations
