About the assignment
A leading public welfare organisation in Amsterdam manages vast amounts of personal data for income support, debt resolution, and employment services. You ensure this data handling complies with privacy, information security, and data governance regulations.
You're the first point of contact for all compliance questions across the organisation—from frontline staff to directors. You advise on GDPR requirements, data protection impact assessments, processor agreements, and information security. You also coordinate between internal compliance experts and operational teams, ensuring policies translate into daily practice.
Your responsibilities
- Advise colleagues and management on privacy protection, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), information security, and data governance in accessible language
- Draft and review DPIAs, submitting them to specialised teams for expert input across privacy, security, and legal domains
- Maintain and update the organisation's privacy documentation and intranet resources
- Answer compliance questions from operational staff and ensure they stay within regulatory frameworks through individual guidance and team meetings
- Monitor organisational projects and processes, proactively flagging compliance risks to leadership
- Support data breach reporting and follow-up procedures
- Build and maintain a network of privacy ambassadors throughout the organisation
- Act as liaison between internal compliance teams and external privacy officers, information security specialists, and data managers

Must-haves
- 5+ years experience in privacy, compliance, or information security roles
- Deep knowledge of GDPR, data protection principles, and Dutch privacy legislation
- Ability to explain complex compliance topics to non-technical audiences
- Experience conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- Strong stakeholder management across multiple organisational levels
- Proven experience in public sector or regulated environments
Nice-to-haves
- CIPP/E or CIPM certification
- Experience with privacy governance tools (OneTrust, TrustArc, Collibra)
- Knowledge of information security standards (ISO 27001, NIST) and information management best practices
