IT Risk Manager (First Line)
About the assignment
A major financial services organisation is strengthening its first-line IT risk management team. You operate at the heart of risk control, helping leadership and staff demonstrate effective IT risk management across controls, assessments, cloud infrastructure, and emerging AI risks.
You work hybrid in Utrecht, embedded in a 13-person team of experienced risk professionals. Your role bridges business units and IT, translating risk findings into concrete measures while building a mature risk culture.
Your responsibilities
- Support management and business units in controlling IT risks across operations, cloud, and AI
- Guide the execution and testing of IT controls within the first line
- Conduct IT risk assessments (DIVA methodology) and translate findings into measurable control improvements
- Advise on risk management for emerging technologies, particularly cloud platforms and AI governance
- Monitor risk findings, track remediation progress, and report on control effectiveness
- Collaborate with second and third-line teams to embed risk discipline across the organisation
- Build risk awareness and accountability among IT and business leadership

Must-haves
- Proven experience in first-line IT risk management, IT controls, or IT audit
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and IT control design/testing
- Strong advisory and communication skills; ability to engage leadership and staff
- Fluent in Dutch (written and spoken)
- Available 32–38 hours/week with minimum 2 days on-site in Utrecht
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in financial services (insurance, banking, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of cloud security, especially Microsoft Azure governance
- Exposure to AI risk management and AI governance frameworks
- Background with a Big Four professional services firm
