Platform & Cloud Security Engineer (AWS)
About the assignment
You join a technical security team protecting enterprise-scale AWS infrastructure. Your focus: hardening cloud architecture, implementing IAM policies, and detecting misconfigurations before they become incidents.
The platform processes millions of transactions annually. Security decisions you make directly reduce risk and enable business growth. You work with modern tooling and collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to embed security into the cloud infrastructure.
Your responsibilities
- Design and implement AWS security controls using IAM, VPC, KMS, and Security Hub
- Monitor AWS infrastructure for misconfigurations, unauthorised access, and compliance violations
- Conduct cloud architecture reviews and threat modelling sessions with engineering teams
- Automate security remediation using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Respond to cloud security incidents and coordinate containment across multi-account environments
- Define and enforce cloud security baselines aligned with CIS Benchmarks and internal standards
- Manage identity lifecycle and access reviews across AWS accounts and federated identity systems

Must-haves
- 3+ years of hands-on AWS security experience
- Strong knowledge of AWS IAM, networking (VPC), and encryption services
- Experience implementing and monitoring cloud security controls
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools
- Understanding of cloud-native architecture and containerisation
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with multi-cloud environments or GCP/Azure
- Familiarity with Kubernetes security or container orchestration
- Background in threat modelling and cloud architecture reviews
