Privacy Consultant – GDPR Specialist
About the assignment
A leading local government organisation handles complex GDPR requests regularly. You provide independent legal advice on intricate data subject rights cases—access requests, deletion, processing restrictions, and other GDPR-protected rights.
You assess which AVG rights apply per case, identify frivolous or excessive requests where applicable, and deliver legally sound, documented guidance for decision-making. Each analysis includes full legal reasoning, conclusions, and interest balancing.
Your responsibilities
- Analyse complex GDPR data subject requests and applicable rights independently
- Assess whether requests qualify as frivolous, repetitive, or excessive under AVG rules
- Deliver written legal opinions with full argumentation and interest-balancing analysis
- Document findings and conclusions ready for client's decision-making process
- Manage your own planning and legal methodology within agreed delivery dates
- Advise on handling restrictions on processing and other GDPR-related obligations
- Ensure all deliverables comply with relevant legislation and standards

Must-haves
- Extensive experience in a comparable privacy/compliance consulting role
- Demonstrable, hands-on knowledge of GDPR application and interpretation
- Prior experience in government settings with complex organisational structures
- Available from start date (earliest possible, latest 20 August 2026)
- Self-directed work style; ability to manage your own methodology and planning
Nice-to-haves
- Legal background or law degree
- CIPP/E and CIPM certifications held
- Political and organisational sensitivity; awareness of government context
