About the assignment
You support a large government organisation in maintaining robust privacy compliance. Your role bridges strategic oversight and operational execution—you coordinate privacy initiatives, provide expert guidance to business units, and ensure GDPR processes meet quality standards.
You work at the intersection of policy and practice. You identify compliance gaps, recommend improvements, and help embed privacy into daily operations. This is a replacement contract with clear scope and measurable impact.
Your responsibilities
- Provide second-line privacy guidance to departments and business units
- Coordinate privacy impact assessments (DPIA) and review their quality
- Monitor GDPR compliance across processes and remediate gaps
- Support data protection incident management and breach notifications
- Design and deliver privacy policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Liaise with external stakeholders (supervisory authorities, contractors)
- Track regulatory changes (GDPR, NIS2, sector-specific rules) and implement requirements
- Maintain privacy documentation and ensure audit readiness

Must-haves
- 5+ years' experience in privacy, GDPR compliance, or data protection roles
- Deep knowledge of GDPR, NIS2, and Dutch privacy regulations
- Experience coordinating privacy impact assessments and compliance audits
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage stakeholder expectations
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with privacy management platforms (OneTrust, TrustArc, Collibra)
- Background in public sector or regulated industries
- CIPP/E or equivalent privacy certification
- Familiarity with incident management and breach notification protocols
