About the assignment
A major organisation is strengthening its privacy function and needs a jurist who bridges legal compliance and strategic business enablement. You'll own privacy strategy, oversee regulatory alignment, and advise leadership on data protection risk and opportunity.
You'll translate complex regulations (GDPR, AI Act, sector-specific rules) into practical governance. Your role sits at the intersection of legal, compliance, and business—influencing product decisions, vendor management, and organisational culture around data protection.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and maintain privacy strategy, policies, and governance frameworks aligned with GDPR, AI Act, and industry regulations
- Advise business units and executive leadership on privacy risks, data handling practices, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and privacy-by-design reviews for new products and systems
- Lead vendor and third-party management from a privacy perspective, including contract review and data processing agreements
- Manage stakeholder engagement with regulators, auditors, and internal governance committees
- Build and mentor a privacy team or working group to embed privacy culture across the organisation
- Monitor regulatory changes and conduct gap analyses; recommend policy updates and compliance improvements

Must-haves
- Legal background with proven expertise in data protection law and GDPR compliance
- 5+ years experience in privacy law, compliance, or privacy advisory roles
- Strategic thinking: ability to translate legal requirements into business-aligned governance
- Strong written and verbal communication in Dutch and English
- Experience managing privacy frameworks, policies, and organisational change
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with privacy technology platforms (OneTrust, TrustArc, Collibra)
- Experience advising on AI governance and emerging privacy risks
- Track record of vendor management and data processing agreements
