Privacy Officer – Security & Enforcement
About the assignment
A leading organisation in public administration is strengthening its Privacy cluster within the Security & Enforcement department. You advise colleagues on responsible data handling, ensure processes comply with privacy legislation, and bridge the gap between enforcement operations and regulatory requirements.
You work at the intersection of privacy law, GDPR compliance, and public safety. Your role is critical: enforcement activities require personal data, but citizens' rights must always be protected. You'll assess risks, guide impact assessments, and build privacy awareness across the organisation.
Your responsibilities
- Advise colleagues on privacy questions within security and enforcement operations
- Review processes and systems for compliance with GDPR and related legislation
- Conduct and guide Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects
- Identify and analyse privacy risks in enforcement policies and initiatives
- Handle data breach notifications and privacy incident investigations
- Support citizen requests for data access and deletion
- Build privacy awareness and training across enforcement teams
- Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and external privacy professionals

Must-haves
- Degree-level education (law, public administration, security, or information management)
- Solid knowledge of GDPR and Dutch privacy legislation (WPG)
- Proven experience with DPIAs and privacy policy development
- Ability to translate complex regulations into practical guidance for non-specialists
- Understanding of enforcement and public safety operations
Nice-to-haves
- Background in security or law enforcement sector
- Experience with privacy governance tools and platforms
- Track record managing privacy incidents and breach investigations
