Privacy Technologist
About the assignment
Eindhoven University of Technology seeks a Privacy Technologist to support its Privacy Operations team during a temporary absence. You'll serve as the technical expert connecting privacy officers with IT developers, enterprise architects, and security teams.
You advise on data protection technologies—encryption, pseudonymization, anonymization—and Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs). You also strengthen the team's technical knowledge through training on identity management, data flows, and privacy-by-design implementation.
This is a 16-hour-per-week contract starting June 2026, initially through September 2026, with potential extension.
Your responsibilities
- Advise Privacy Officers on technical data protection topics: encryption techniques, pseudonymization approaches, and application configurations
- Support identity management and provisioning discussions between Privacy Operations and IT teams
- Design and implement Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) tailored to TU/e's research and administrative systems
- Train Privacy Officers on IT architecture, data flows, security controls, and technical privacy safeguards
- Review data protection requirements in complex systems and translate them into technical measures
- Collaborate with developers, enterprise architects, and security teams on privacy-compliant system design
- Stay current with AI Act compliance, NIS2, and evolving data protection technologies

Must-haves
- 5+ years IT or related field experience with solid security fundamentals
- Proven knowledge of GDPR, Dutch implementation law, and privacy-by-design principles
- Hands-on expertise in encryption, hashing, anonymization, and pseudonymization techniques
- Fluent English (spoken and written); Dutch is beneficial but not required
- Ability to translate complex privacy requirements into technical solutions
Nice-to-haves
- CIPP/E certification or equivalent privacy qualification
- Experience with AI systems and EU AI Act compliance
- Knowledge of NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act, and ISO security frameworks
- Training or knowledge-transfer experience with non-technical stakeholders
