Security Project Manager
About the assignment
You oversee the planning, execution, and closure of security projects—from infrastructure upgrades to compliance initiatives. Your role bridges security teams, IT operations, and business stakeholders.
You manage timelines, budgets, and resource allocation while keeping projects on track and within scope. You identify risks early and adapt plans when threats or priorities shift.
You ensure security improvements deliver measurable business value and strengthen the organization's overall security posture.
Your responsibilities
- Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria aligned with security strategy
- Build and lead cross-functional teams including security architects, engineers, and compliance specialists
- Create detailed project plans with timelines, budgets, and resource requirements
- Monitor progress against KPIs and report status to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks—technical, organizational, and compliance-related
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate trade-offs between security, cost, and timeline
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless execution
- Document lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in security project delivery

Must-haves
- 5+ years managing IT or security projects, including infrastructure, compliance, or architecture initiatives
- Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and stakeholder expectations
- Strong understanding of information security principles, standards, and compliance frameworks
- Experience coordinating technical teams and communicating with C-level executives
- Fluent in Dutch and English
Nice-to-haves
- Background in security operations, compliance, or risk management
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies in security environments
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
