Senior Network Security Specialist – Datacenter Infrastructure
About the assignment
A leading energy transmission organisation is building a new datacenter to support growing demand for critical infrastructure. You're brought in as senior network security specialist to design, validate, and implement the network and security layers from the ground up.
Your challenge: ensure connectivity, firewalling, segmentation, and datacenter interconnects are secure, stable, and operationally sound. You bridge high-level architecture with executable low-level designs, validate configurations for security and continuity, and guide the migration and handover to operations.
Your responsibilities
- Design, configure, test, and validate datacenter networks including routing, switching, firewalling, and proxies
- Architect and evaluate network segmentation strategies for OT infrastructure and business-critical systems
- Review technical designs and configurations for security posture, manageability, and operational continuity
- Execute implementation, testing, migration, and troubleshooting during datacenter build and go-live phases
- Establish secure connectivity between datacenters and remote sites using EVPN/VXLAN and proven standards
- Translate high-level architectural requirements into detailed, implementable technical specifications
- Coordinate with architects, security teams, platform engineers, and operations to align on design decisions
- Document configurations, design rationale, operational procedures, and knowledge transfer for the operations team

Must-haves
- 10+ years in network design and implementation, including datacenter environments
- Proven expertise in routers, switches, firewalls, proxies, and network segmentation
- Hands-on experience with EVPN, VXLAN, and enterprise-grade datacenter connectivity
- Track record of leading implementation, migration, or adoption projects in critical infrastructure
- Ability to design and validate secure network architectures for business-critical and OT systems
- Strong grasp of operational readiness, continuity, and knowledge transfer practices
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Arista or Cisco datacenter platforms
- Familiarity with energy sector infrastructure or regulated OT environments
- Security certifications (CISSP, CCNP Security) demonstrating structured security thinking
