Technical Security Officer
About the assignment
A leading organisation in the Dutch public sector is scaling its security maturity. You support the Security Manager and IT organisation by connecting policy, processes, and technical implementation.
You operate at the intersection of governance and technology. You speak both languages—technici and policymakers—and translate strategic direction into actionable technical guidance. Your technical depth drives quality; your initiative drives results.
Your responsibilities
- Conduct and document risk analyses and technical security assessments aligned with organisational priorities
- Advise on measures for cloud, network, and hosting infrastructure to strengthen digital resilience
- Guide the organisation in raising information security maturity through audit support and process design
- Investigate security incidents and recommend preventive measures
- Validate effectiveness of implemented security controls
- Align technical teams and information security officers to close gaps between policy and execution
- Provide independent security advice to management on risks and remediation priorities

Must-haves
- HBO+ or WO degree in IT, security, or related field
- Deep knowledge of information security measures, IT architectures, business continuity, and risk management
- Proficiency with relevant frameworks: ISO 27001, BIO 2.0, NIS2, NEN 7510, VIR-BI
- 5+ years experience in complex IT or information security environments, preferably government
- Proven ability to independently assess risks and advise stakeholders with conviction
Nice-to-haves
- Background in operational technology (OT) security alongside IT
- Experience with cloud or network security assessments
- Certification: CISM, CISA, or CISSP
- Willingness to transition to permanent role with the organisation post-engagement
