About the assignment
A leading organisation is strengthening its application security posture and needs a hands-on leader to build and mentor a high-performing team. You'll own the security architecture of critical applications, define secure development standards, and embed security into the DevOps pipeline.
You balance strategic oversight with technical depth. You review designs, guide threat modeling, and ensure teams understand and implement security controls. Your goal: shift left, reduce vulnerabilities early, and build a security-aware engineering culture.
Your responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of application security engineers and code reviewers
- Design and implement secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) standards and processes
- Conduct threat modeling sessions and architecture reviews for critical applications
- Define and maintain a secure coding framework aligned with OWASP and industry best practices
- Establish metrics for application security maturity and report on KPIs to leadership
- Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to integrate security testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Manage third-party application security tools (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning)
- Stay current with emerging threats and communicate risk to stakeholders

Must-haves
- 8+ years in application security or secure software development
- 5+ years in a leadership or senior technical role managing engineers or projects
- Deep expertise in secure code review, threat modeling, and SAST/DAST tools
- Hands-on experience embedding security into CI/CD and DevOps environments
- Fluent in English; ability to communicate security concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with mobile or API security
- Familiarity with security frameworks like NIST or ISO 27001
- Background in threat modeling or attack surface analysis
