Privacy Expert (Contract)
About the assignment
A leading government organisation is strengthening its privacy management function. You join as an external expert to design comprehensive privacy frameworks, establish clear governance standards, and build organisational privacy maturity.
You deliver concrete outputs: process documentation, DPIAs, processing registers, integrated advisory reports, and structured knowledge transfer to the permanent team. The role requires navigating complex political and administrative environments while maintaining result-focused delivery.
Contract duration: 1 July 2026 – 31 December 2026.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and maintain privacy policies and governance frameworks aligned with GDPR and AI regulations
- Design and document core privacy processes: DPIAs, processing registers, and compliance frameworks
- Conduct privacy risk analyses and deliver integrated advisory reports to stakeholders
- Establish and improve data processing registers and privacy assessment tools
- Advise departmental teams on privacy compliance and AI-related privacy challenges
- Build organisational privacy awareness and embed compliance practices across departments
- Structure and transfer specialised privacy knowledge to permanent staff for role continuity

Must-haves
- Legal background with proven expertise in privacy law and GDPR
- Extensive hands-on experience with DPIAs, processing registers, and privacy frameworks
- Knowledge of AI-related privacy challenges and governance
- Experience in public sector or complex matrix organisations
- Strong ability to deliver structured advisory reports and knowledge documentation
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with government network organisations and three-lines-of-defence models
- Experience with privacy maturity assessments and organisational change in privacy contexts
- Background in NIS2, AI Act, or emerging privacy regulations
