Technical Information Security Officer (AI & Governance)
About the assignment
A leading local government organisation is accelerating an AI solution prototype. You ensure information security is built in from day one—not added later. Your role bridges development and governance.
You'll assess risks, map compliance requirements (BIO, ISO 27001, GDPR, AI Act), and advise on architecture choices. You work with privacy, technical security, and product teams in an agile environment to deliver not just a working prototype, but one whose security risks are transparent, mitigated, and documented.
This is a four-week intensive engagement. Your independence and rigorous documentation will enable responsible scaling beyond the prototype phase.
Your responsibilities
- Conduct information security risk analyses and maintain a risk register throughout the project lifecycle
- Assess AI, data, vendor, and integration risks against BIO, ISO 27001, GDPR, and AI Act requirements
- Advise on technical, organisational, and procedural security controls tailored to the solution
- Review architecture, cloud, and design decisions from a security and governance perspective
- Contribute to DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) and document security trade-offs and residual risks
- Review access controls, logging, monitoring, incident response, and operational management processes
- Ensure the solution is secure, auditable, and ready for responsible deployment or next-phase development
