Privacy Officer (Operational)
About the assignment
A leading government organisation processes large volumes of personal data for residents accessing income support, debt assistance, and reintegration services. You are the operational point of contact for privacy questions, ensuring careful, practical handling of this data.
You work closely with the privacy and compliance team and information specialists, focusing on execution: drafting DPIAs, reviewing processor agreements, maintaining the processing register, and conducting privacy risk analyses for ongoing processes and projects.
Your responsibilities
- Draft and update Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new and existing processes
- Review, negotiate, and maintain processor agreements with external service providers
- Maintain and update the processing register with current data flows and processing activities
- Conduct privacy risk analyses to identify compliance gaps and operational vulnerabilities
- Answer operational privacy questions from staff and advise on practical compliance
- Detect and escalate compliance risks; support data breach notification and follow-up
- Collaborate with information management and legal colleagues on privacy-related projects

Must-haves
- 3–5 years of hands-on privacy compliance experience
- Proven track record with DPIAs, processor agreements, processing registers, and privacy risk analysis
- HBO-level education or equivalent professional qualification
- Operational mindset: you execute privacy practice independently, not strategically
- Strong Dutch language skills (written and verbal)
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience in a government or comparable public sector organisation
- Familiarity with GDPR enforcement and case law
- Experience with privacy management tools (OneTrust, TrustArc, or similar)
