Privacy & Security Officer
About the assignment
A leading public sector organisation managing permits, supervision, and enforcement needs a Privacy & Security Officer to embed privacy and information security into operations. You'll join the Information and Process Management team—a 30-strong unit driving digitalisation and process improvement.
Your mission: advise teams on privacy risks, conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), evaluate security classifications, and ensure projects comply with privacy law. You'll work across functional managers, data specialists, project leads, and decentralised privacy/security teams to mitigate risks and build security awareness.
Your responsibilities
- Conduct and update Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new and existing initiatives
- Advise project teams on privacy and information security risks within complex government workflows
- Perform security risk assessments and information classification (BIV) reviews
- Review and approve appropriate control measures for identified privacy and security risks
- Guide projects through compliance with privacy legislation and internal security standards
- Build organisational awareness of privacy and security requirements through training and guidance
- Act as sparring partner for colleagues and stakeholders on privacy and security questions

Must-haves
- 3+ years as Privacy Officer and/or Security Officer at professional level
- Proven experience drafting and updating DPIAs
- Solid knowledge of privacy law and information security practices
- Experience performing risk assessments and information classifications
- Strong advisory skills in complex organisational settings
- HBO-level education (or equivalent)
Nice-to-haves
- Relevant privacy or information security certification
- Experience in government or public sector environments
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 or NIS2 implementation
