Strategic Data Protection Advisor
About the assignment
A major organisation is strengthening its data protection function. You serve as strategic advisor to the board and senior management on privacy and compliance matters. You translate complex regulations into actionable strategies that balance business needs with regulatory obligations.
You identify emerging privacy risks, assess vendor compliance, and guide the organisation through regulatory changes. Your recommendations influence data handling practices across all departments. You build a privacy-conscious culture while enabling business innovation.
Your responsibilities
- Advise leadership on GDPR, AI Act, and sector-specific privacy regulations
- Develop and maintain data protection impact assessments (DPIA) for new initiatives
- Manage vendor privacy compliance and third-party data processor agreements
- Lead privacy risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
- Represent the organisation in regulatory dialogues with supervisory authorities
- Design privacy governance frameworks and accountability structures
- Monitor regulatory changes and update policies accordingly
- Report privacy metrics and compliance status to executive leadership

Must-haves
- 10+ years in data protection, privacy, or compliance roles
- Deep expertise in GDPR and EU privacy law
- Experience advising C-level executives and boards
- Proven track record managing vendor privacy compliance
- Strong understanding of emerging regulations (AI Act, NIS2, sector-specific rules)
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in highly regulated sectors (financial services, healthcare, public administration)
- Hands-on experience with privacy governance platforms
- CIPP/E or equivalent certification
