IT Risk Officer (Business Continuity Management)
About the assignment
The client operates critical infrastructure and faces evolving IT and operational risks. They need someone to strengthen their BCM program, assess IT dependencies, and build resilience into their recovery strategies.
You'll translate business objectives into risk-informed decisions. Your work prevents costly downtime, ensures regulatory compliance, and protects reputation during incidents.
This role bridges IT security, risk management, and business operations. You'll own the full lifecycle: risk identification, impact analysis, recovery planning, and testing.
Your responsibilities
- Assess IT risks and their impact on business continuity objectives
- Design and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans
- Conduct BIA (Business Impact Analysis) workshops with stakeholders
- Define RTO/RPO targets and validate recovery capabilities through testing
- Monitor critical system dependencies and single points of failure
- Report IT risk metrics and BCM status to leadership quarterly
- Recommend improvements to incident response and crisis management procedures
- Ensure BCM aligns with ISO 22301 and relevant regulatory requirements

Must-haves
- 5+ years in IT risk management or business continuity roles
- Hands-on experience designing and testing BCM/DR plans
- Strong understanding of ISO 22301 and risk frameworks
- Ability to translate technical risks into business language
- Proven stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with GRC platforms (ServiceNow, Archer) or risk tools
- Knowledge of Azure or AWS disaster recovery services
- Background in a regulated industry (finance, energy, healthcare)
