Privacy Officer
About the assignment
A leading organisation across multiple sectors is strengthening its privacy function. You own the end-to-end privacy programme: from GDPR and emerging EU regulations (NIS2, AI Act) to internal data handling policies. You'll work with business units, IT, and Legal to embed privacy by design and ensure compliance across operations.
You report to senior management and liaise with regulatory bodies. This is a strategic role—not just policy enforcement, but proactive risk management and stakeholder education.
Your responsibilities
- Lead GDPR compliance programme and maintain Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) across the organisation
- Manage data subject rights requests and ensure timely, lawful responses
- Develop and maintain privacy policies, processing agreements, and vendor assessment frameworks
- Conduct privacy audits and advise business units on new projects, third-party integrations, and data flows
- Report to management and regulatory authorities on privacy incidents and compliance status
- Train and guide employees and contractors on data protection obligations and best practices
- Monitor emerging legislation (NIS2, AI Act, sector-specific rules) and adapt policies accordingly

Must-haves
- 5+ years privacy and GDPR compliance experience
- Deep knowledge of GDPR, NIS2, and EU data protection law
- Track record managing DPIAs, data subject requests, and regulatory inquiries
- Excellent stakeholder communication and training skills
- Hands-on experience with privacy management tools (OneTrust, TrustArc, or equivalent)
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with AI Act and algorithmic impact assessments
- Familiarity with sector-specific regulations (finance, healthcare, energy)
- Background in data governance or information security
