OT Cybersecurity Specialist
About the assignment
A leading organisation in the energy, water, or manufacturing sector relies on you to safeguard operational technology systems that keep critical infrastructure running. You bridge the gap between IT security and OT engineering, understanding both the cybersecurity risks and the safety-critical nature of industrial control systems.
You assess vulnerabilities in legacy and modern OT environments, design segmentation strategies, and implement monitoring without disrupting production. Your work directly prevents downtime, safety incidents, and supply chain failures.
Your responsibilities
- Assess OT network architecture and identify vulnerabilities in SCADA, PLC, and ICS environments
- Design and implement network segmentation and air-gapping strategies for critical systems
- Deploy OT-specific monitoring and detection tools to identify anomalous behaviour
- Conduct security audits and compliance assessments against NIST Cybersecurity Framework and IEC 62443
- Collaborate with OT engineers and plant managers to balance security controls with operational continuity
- Develop incident response procedures tailored to industrial control system failures
- Manage firmware updates and patch cycles for OT devices with minimal production impact
- Provide security training and awareness for OT personnel and engineering teams

Certifications (preferred)
Must-haves
- 5+ years in OT, ICS, SCADA, or critical infrastructure cybersecurity
- Deep understanding of industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC, Profibus, EtherNet/IP)
- Experience with OT-specific threat modelling and risk assessment
- Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework and IEC 62443 standards
- Proven ability to work with engineering teams and balance security with operational needs
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Dragos, Claroty, or Forescout platforms
- GICSP, CISSP, or equivalent OT security certification
- Background in electrical engineering, automation, or plant operations
